ORACLE DATA INTEGRATOR (ODI) 12C

The team from ACT Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd was involved in a data migration project for a global insurance company that has a network of offices in more than 70 countries and services clients in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

The project required ACT to migrate the customer’s existing core database from IBM’s DB2 to Oracle’s Enterprise Edition Database. There were approximately 1500 tables & hundreds of stored procedures to be migrated to the Oracle database.

The core Oracle product that was used in the migration was Oracle Data Integrator.

The Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is an Extract, Load and Transform (ELT) tool produced by Oracle that offers a graphical environment to build, manage and maintain data integration processes in business intelligence systems.

ACT’s responsibilities included:-

Oracle Data Integrator Installation & Configuration
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition Installation & Configuration
Migrate data from IBM’s DB2 to Oracle Enterprise Edition Database using ODI
Migrate Stored Procedures from IBM’s DB2 to Oracle Enterprise Edition Database
Convert Month-End Java Program to Oracle
Convert DB2 checksum SQL to Oracle’s PL/SQL.
On-Site Standby for Live Cut-Over

Upon completion of the migration, the customer received numerous positive feedbacks from their respective departments and end-users on the enhanced performance of their core applications after the cut-over to Oracle Database. There were also minimal data inconsistency issues reported.

The success of the project was made possible with the assistance of the customer’s Application Development Department, Infrastructure & Operations Department & Database Administration team. Most importantly, the outcome of project exceeded the management’s expectations.
